My name is Catarina, I live in Budapest with my two cats, and I make Beaderie jewelry.

In 2024, after a lot of careful preparation, I packed a couple of suitcases, my laptop, my cats, and moved to Budapest.

For a long time, I was completely on my own here: I didn’t know a single person and didn’t even know how to say “thank you” in Hungarian. A year later, it became clear that I had made the right choice, and that Hungary and I are very much in love. Little by little, I’m finding my people here, making friends, discovering my favorite places, and starting to feel at home.

I love new projects, design, and everything that makes life more beautiful and comfortable.

In my first project, which I run together with my best friend, we create comfortable underwear and menstrual products. With YOYUU, we literally start with the basics: the things that stay closest to a woman for the longest time every day. Underwear and alternative, eco-friendly menstrual products: the very basics of everyday comfort.

With Beaderie, I wanted to look at a woman from a different perspective. Not at the foundation of her look, but at its final detail.

One day, I simply got really tired of my computer, put everything aside, and started counting my tiny beads, connecting them into different objects. That’s how Beaderie came to be, out of a desire to create something with my hands.

I wanted to see what beads could become beyond the usual associations with this material. I treat them as a material for a piece of jewelry: tiny pieces of glass that can almost be used to build a form. There is something natural and architectural about them, something simple and complex at the same time.

I make every piece myself from tiny Japanese seed beads.
Sometimes, to get the shape exactly right, I have to take a piece apart and make it again, because even one tiny error can throw off the entire form. That’s why every piece is made with great care and meticulous attention to detail (a graphic designer’s eye won’t let anything through, even if it’s off by just a millimeter :).

And every single one of them is deeply loved.
I hope you can feel that love too, and that one day they’ll become just as loved by you.
